No Mercy (2006) was the eighth annual No Mercy professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by International Wrestling Entertainment (IWE). It took place on October 8, 2006 from the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina and was a Fusion! brand-exclusive event.

The main event was a Fatal Four Way Match for the World Heavyweight Championship between defending champion King Britz, Bobby, Jesse Dern and Dan Hooper, which Britz won after pinning Dan Hooper. One of the predominant matches on the card was Tarry Anderson versus Martin McAlmond, which Anderson won after McAlmond was disqualified. Another primary match on the undercard was Scott Wright versus Josh Nuss in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. Wright won the match by pinning Nuss after a crossbody off a rail.

Background[]

King Britz was the World Heavyweight Championship

The main feud heading into No Mercy was between King Britz, Bobby, Jesse Dern and Dan Hooper with the four battling over the World Heavyweight Championship. SummerSlam, the pay-per-view two months before No Mercy, Dern defeated King Britz by disqualification after Queen TIA interfered, resulting in Britz retaining the World Heavyweight Championship. The next week on Fusion!, Jesse Dern along with Bobby defeated King Britz's Court (Steve Britz, Dan Hooper and William Kapphan) in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match. Britz's Court controlled most of the match, isolating Jesse and Bobby from each other. Towards the end of the match, Bobby tagged in Jesse, who ended up pinning Britz for the win after a Spinebuster. Two weeks later on the September 8 edition of Fusion!, Jesse Dern faced Britz for the World Heavyweight Championship, which Britz won after Dan Hooper hit Jesse Dern with a shillelah After the match, Dan Hooper continued to attack Jesse Dern with the shillelagh and a steel chair. The next week on Fusion!, Dan Hooper began degrading Jesse Dern, saying he is probably hiding in a hole licking his wounds. As Dan Hooper was about to continue, Bobby came out and said that only someone like him would jump Jesse Dern from behind. Fustion! General Manager Theodore Long then announced that, Dan Hooper would face off against Bobby later that night to determine the number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship at No Mercy. Bobby defeated Dan Hooper and became number one contender after Dan Hooper was disqualified for hitting him with a shillelagh. On the September 22 edition of Fusion!, Bobby teamed up with Jesse Dern to take on Dan Hooper and Kapphan. Midway through the match, Jesse Dern and Dan Hooper brawled outside the ring and into the crowd, leaving Kapphan on his own against Bobby. Bobby gained the pinfall after hitting Kapphan with a Spear. Later that night it was announced that Jesse Dern would face off against Dan Hooper at No Mercy. Two weeks later on the October 6 edition of SmackDown!, Britz faced off against Dann Hooper and Jesse Dern faced off against Bobby, with both matches ending in a no-contest. This lead Theodore Long to make the one-on-one World title match at No Mercy, a Fatal Four Way Match.

The other main match on the card was Tarry Anderson versus Martin McAlmond On the September 8 edition of Fusion!, Anderson called out General Manager Theodore Long, and informed him that if Dustin Simpson comes to Fusion!, he wants a spot on Meltdown; as Anderson proclaimed that Fusion! didn't interest him anymore because he had already defeated every top performer on the roster. This led to Long booking a match between an opponent Anderson had never faced, that opponent turned out to be Martin McAlmond. The match was scheduled to take place at No Mercy. On the September 29 edition of Fusion!, Anderson presented a tribute to the Martin McAlmond and tried to get out of the match. However, the Martin McAlmond made his presence known as Anderson, as he infromed him, "I show no mercy, and you will rest in peace". Kennedy attempted to strike the Undertaker with his microphone, but the microphone suddenly blew up in Kennedy's hand.

The most personal feud was between Scott Wright and Josh Nuss. This feud started when Nuss cost Wright the World championship at The Great American Bash, claiming that he was "a leech living off the blood of the Nuss name." Nuss and Wright feuded for weeks, including a match at SummerSlam, where Lynn Lehr accidentally cost Wright the match by knocking him off the top rope. The next week on Fusion!, Lynn turned out Wright and sided with Nuss, becoming his new "business manager".
