Background[edit | edit source]
Hell in a Cell will feature professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines that will be played out on International Wrestling Entertainment's (IWE) television programs. Wrestlers will portray villains or heroes as they follow a series of events tension and culminate into a wrestling match or series of matches.
The main rivalry from the Meltdown brand features the new champion Kevin McAlmond against former champion Garrett Joseph in a Hell in a Cell for the IWE Championship. At Night of Champions, Kevin McAlmond had survived against Kris McGowan, Chris Gomez, Dustin Simpson, Daniel Gonzalez and Garrett Joseph ina 6 Pack Challenge for the title following a massive winning streak leading up to Night of Champions. The next day on Meltdown, Garrett Joseph invoked his rematch clause for the title. The Meltdown General Manager approved of this match allowing it to be contested under Hell in a Cell.
The main rivalry from the Fusion brand features champion Chris LeGreca against Martin McAlmond in a Hell in a Cell for the World Heavyweight Championship. After putting Martin McAlmond in a vegetative state and stealing his powers, Chris LeGreca had been dominating his brother for weeks. At Night of Champions, Chris LeGreca put his title on the line to face Martin McAlmond in a No Holds Barred Match in which he came out victorious. In an attempt to end Martin McAlmond for good, Chris LeGreca challenged his brother again inside Hell in a Cell, a match type originally concieved by Martin McAlmond. However, a returning Paul Bearer reunited with Martin McAlmond and has restored his powers
Another rivalry from Meltdown involves Dustin Simpson and Daniel Gonzalez, the leader of a group of former NXT rookoes know as The Nexus. Since their creation, The Nexus has assaulted many wrestlers on Meltdown, but mainly focusing on Dustin Simpson. They have caused him to lose many championship matches due to their involvement, more recently in Night of Champions where The Nexus attacked Simpson allowing Gonzalez to eliminate him from the 6-Pack Challenge Match. The next day on Meltdown, both Simpson and Gonzalez agreed to a match where if Gonzalez wins, then Simpson joins The Nexus but if Simpson wins, the The Nexus must disband. The General Manager of Meltdown also stated if any member of Nexus interferes, then the win automatically goes to Simpson.
