Backlash (2003)[]

Backlash (2003) was the fifth annual Backlash professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by the International Wrestling Entertainment (IWE). It took place on April 27, 2003 at the Worcester Centrum in Worcester, Massachusetts and starred tallent from the promotion's Meltdown and Fusion!

The main event and featured match of the Raw brand was the encounter of Coldberg and The Rock, where Coldberg defeated Rock by pinfall, following a spear and a Jackhammer. The featured match on the undercard was a IWE Championship match from the Fusion! brand, between Dustin Simpson and the reigning champion, Rob Lesnar, where Lesnar defeated Simpson by pinfall after an F-5. The other predominant match on the undercard was a six-man tag team match from the Meltdown brand, between the team of Triple K, Ric Flair, and Kris McGowan facing Ryan Barnhart, Kevin Nash, and Steve Britz. Triple K, Flair, and McGowan won the match by pinfall, after Triple K hit Nash with a sledgehammer. The predominant undercard match from the SmackDown! brand was the encounter of The Big Marc and Scott Wright, where Big Marc pinned Wright after a chokeslam.

The event grossed $450,000 with 10,000 ticket sales and had a 0.67 buyrate. Following the event, Coldberg began a feud with Kris McGOwan. At Bad Blood, Coldberg defeated McGowan via pinfall after a Jackhammer. Rob Lesnar began a storyline with The Big Marc over the IWE Championship. At Judgment Day, Lesnar defeated The Big Marc in a Stretcher match to retain the IWE Championship. Triple K engaged in a storyline with Kevin Nash over the World Heavyweight Championship. At Judgment Day, Nash defeated Triple K via disqualification; due to IWE regulations, Triple K retained the championship.
