Armageddon (2002) was the third Armageddon professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by International Wrestling Entertainment (IWE). It took place on December 15, 2002 at the Office Depot Center in Ft. Lauderdale suburb of Sunrise, Florida and featured talent from the Meltdown and Fusion brands.
The main match on the Raw brand was a Three Stage of Hell Match for the World Heavyweight Championship between champion Ryan Barnhart and Triple K. The first match was a Street Fight, which Triple K won after performing a Pedigree. The second match was a Steel Cage Match, which Barnhart won by pinfall after jumping off the top of the steel cage onto Triple K through a table. The third and final match was a Ladder Match, which Triple K won after retrieving the belt suspended above the ring. The predominant match on theFusion! brand was Th eBig Marc versus Matt Borske for the IWE Championship. Borske won the match and the IWE Championship after pinning Big Marc following interference from Rob Truax. One of the primary matches on the undercard was Kevin Hunter versus Brian McAlmond, which Hunter won by forcing B. McAlmond to submit with the Crippler Crossface.
The event unofficially began with a dark match between Josh Hooper and Da'Lo Hooper. Hooper pinned Da'Lo after a Diving Crossbody and hooking the tights for leverage. The first match of the event was a Fatal Four-Way tag team match for the World Tag Team Championship between Kris McGowan and Khristian, Mike Storm and William Kapphan, The Dudley Boyz (Harlan and Scoot), and Steve Britz and Goldust. The World Tag Team champs Kris McGowan and Khristian started the match off with the Dudleys, though both Britz and Goldust and Mike Storm and William Kapphan were involved early and often. The first team to go were the Dudley Boyz; Harlan was pinned by Kapphan, after a Top rope leg drop by Storm. The second elimination was of team Storm and Kapphan; Goldust pinned Kapphan after a Director's Cut, which made the match even at two-on-two. The final elimination came when Britz hit a Book End on McGowan, which allowed Britz to pin him and get the win for his team. As a result, Britz and Goldust became new World Tag Team champions.
The second match was between Edge and Q-Train. Q-Train started the match and dominated Edge as he gave him a slam the corner, which was followed by a shoulder block. Q-Train tried another slam on Edge, but Edge countered and tossed Q-Train out of the ring. Q-Train gained the advantage once more, when he catapulted Edge right into the ropes and nearly decapitated him, Q-Train then got Edge in the headlock in the middle of the ring, but Edge dropped down and hit a DDT to break free. Edge then took the upper hand as he got up and knocked Q-Train down with a spinning heel kick, which was followed by a facebuster from the middle rope. The match came to an end when, Q-Train was disqualified for hitting Edge with a chair. As a result, Edge won the match. Afterwards, Edge hit Q-Train with a chair seven times.
The third match was between Kevin Hunter and Brian McAlmond. In the match, Hunter whipped Brian McAlmond down and got Brian McAlmond in a reverse chinlock. Brian McAlmond managed to get out of the hold, as he kicked Hunter in the mid-section. Brian McAlmond got Hunter down on the mat and locked him in a head-scissors. Hunter countered the move and got Brian McAlmond in a hold, but Brian McAlmond was able to get the rope, to break the hold. After back and forth action between Hunter and Brian McAlmond, Hunter forced Brian McAlmond to submit to the Crippler Crossface. The fourth match was between Chris LeGreca and Jesse Dern (with Ric Flair). LeGreca and Dern locked up in the middle of the ring and Dern took the upper hand over LeGreca, as he hit LeGreca with a shoulder block. Dern then picked up LeGreca and slammed him, but LeGreca was able to drive his elbow onto him. In the match however LeGreca stopped Flair's interference. LeGreca slammed Dern into the turnbuckle, which was followed by a big boot to the face. The match came to an end when Dern hit the Jesse Bomb on LeGreca and grabbed the pinfall.
The fifth match was for the IWE Women's Championship between Courtney Savoie, Bailey Dalton and Beatrice. Courtney ran down to the ring, but was quickly tossed out by Beatrice. Beatrice took the advantage, as she hit a sweep kick on Courtney. Soon after, Bailey attempted a bulldog on Beatrice but Beatrice and Courtney double-teamed her with a back suplex. Mid-way in the match, Bailey dominated and hit Courtney with multiple kicks followed by a neckbreaker on Beatrice. Courtney was pushed off the turnbuckle as Stratus hit a roundhouse kick on Beatrice for a broken up two count. In the end, Courtney pinned Beatrice after Dalton hit her with a Clothesline and Courtney hit Dalton with the Women's title belt, which resulted in Courtney pinned Beatrice and retaining the title.IWE Championship between The Big Marc (with Paul Heyman) and Matt Borske. Borske was taken down by the Big Marc, but countered and got Big Marc in a head-scissors lock. Angle battled back as he hit Big Marc with a sidewalk slam. Borske got Big Marc in a Sleeper Hold and got him down to the mat, but then Big Marc reversed the hold and flipped Borske to the mat. Borsek fought back and kicked Big Marc in the face and then he went up to the top rope. Borske hit a missile dropkick from the top rope, but Big Marc kicked out of the pin. After back and forth action between the two (including some interference by Q-Train against Borske), Borske pinned Big Marc after interference from Rob Lesner, Lesnar hit the F-5 on Big Marc, thus making Borske the winner of the match and new IWE Champion.
Triple K challenging Ryan Barnhart for the World Heavyweight Championship was the main event. The first fall of the match was a Street fight. Barnhart and Triple K battled inside and out of the ring. Triple K tried to suplex Barnhart over the ropes and through the table, but Barnhart countered and suplexed Triple K right back into the ring. Barnhart was gearing up for the Sweet Chin Music, however Triple K caught Barnhart and twisted Barnhart's knee. Triple K focused Barnhart knee, throughout the match. In the street fight, Triple K lit a piece of wood on fire, with the flames provided on the stage. However, Barnhart countered Triple K countered Triple K's attack and nailed him right in the face with the flaming board, which resulted in Triple K’s forehead being busted open. However, Triple K picked up the first fall as he pinned Barnhart after a Pedigree. The second fall was a Steel Cage match. In the match, Triple K catapulted Barnhart into the wall of the cage, which was followed by Triple K grinding Barnhart head into the side of the cage. After back and forth action between Triple K and Barnhart, Barnhart scored the second fall, after he Splashed Triple K through a table off the cage. The third and last fall of the night was a Ladder match. Barnhart grabbed a ladder in which resulted in him dropping the ladder on Triple K's back which was quickly followed by Barnhart suplexing Triple K on the ladder. The match concluded with Triple K retrieving the World Heavyweight title, after he pushed Barnhart off the ladder, which resulted in Barnhart crashing through four stacked tables on the outside.
